Structuring Lessons & Modules ​

Once you have created a course, the next step is to add the learning content. FluentCommunity uses a flexible structure of Sections and Lessons to help you organize your course material in a logical and easy-to-follow way.

  • Sections are like chapters or modules. They are used to group related lessons together.
  • Lessons are the individual pages of content, such as a video, a piece of text, or a downloadable worksheet.

Use Case: For a course on "Website Design," you could create a "Module 1: Introduction to HTML" section, which contains individual lessons like "Lesson 1: Basic Page Structure" and "Lesson 2: Working with Text & Links."

How to Create Courses in FluentCommunity

Accessing the Course Structure Editor ​

  1. Navigate to FluentCommunity → Courses (Pro).
  2. Find the course you want to edit and click on its title or the Edit link.
  3. In the course editor, click on the Course Structure or Builder tab.

This will open the main course builder interface where you can add and arrange your content.

Step 1: Create a New Section ​

First, you need to create a section to hold your lessons.

  1. Click the Add New Section button.
  2. Enter a name for the section (e.g., "Welcome & Introduction").
  3. Click Add Section.

Your new section will appear in the builder.

Step 2: Add a Lesson to the Section ​

Now you can add individual lessons inside the section.

  1. Under the section title, click the Add New Lesson button.
  2. Enter a title for the lesson (e.g., "Meet Your Instructor").
  3. Click Add Lesson. The lesson will be created, and you will be taken to the lesson editor.

Edit a Lesson Slug (Optional) ​

Each lesson gets a URL slug generated from its title, and you can change it at any time to something cleaner or more descriptive.

  1. Click the three-dot menu on the right-hand side of the lesson row.
  2. Select Edit Slug from the dropdown. A pop-up appears showing the current slug.
  3. Enter your preferred URL-friendly text in the input field.
  4. Click Save. The change applies immediately.

💡 Tip: Courses have their own Slug field on the course details screen — see Creating Your First Course. Keeping lesson slugs short and descriptive makes shared lesson links much easier to read.

Step 3: Add Content to Your Lesson ​

The lesson editor uses the familiar WordPress block editor (Gutenberg), giving you the flexibility to add any type of content you need.

  • Add paragraphs of text for written instruction.
  • Embed videos from services like YouTube or Vimeo, or upload your own.
  • Add images, galleries, and downloadable files.
  • Include lists, quotes, and other rich formatting.

Once you are finished adding content to your lesson, click the Update button to save it. You can return to the main course builder at any time to add more lessons or sections.
