Adding Videos & Attachments

A great course often includes more than just text. FluentCommunity makes it easy to add rich media like videos and provide downloadable resources like worksheets, PDFs, or source files directly within your lessons.

Adding Videos to a Lesson

Video is one of the most effective ways to teach. You can add videos from popular hosting services or embed them directly.

  1. Navigate to the course lesson you wish to edit.
  2. In the block editor, click the plus (+) icon to add a new block.
  3. Search for the Video block or a specific embed block like YouTube or Vimeo.
  4. For hosted videos (like YouTube): Simply paste the URL of the video into the block, and it will be embedded automatically.
  5. For uploaded videos: Use the main Video block to upload a video file directly to your WordPress Media Library.

Use Case: You can embed a main lesson video from YouTube at the top of the lesson, followed by a written summary and key takeaways below it.

Adding File Attachments

Providing downloadable resources can significantly enhance the value of your course.

  1. In the lesson editor, find the Attachments section, which is typically located in the settings sidebar for the lesson.
  2. Click the Upload Attachment button.
  3. You can select a file from your computer to upload (e.g., a PDF worksheet, a ZIP file with code samples, or presentation slides).
  4. Once uploaded, the file will appear as a clickable link for your students to download.

You can add multiple files to a single lesson. They will be displayed in a neat list for your students at the bottom of the lesson page.

✨ Note: For larger video files, we strongly recommend using a dedicated video hosting service like YouTube or Vimeo instead of uploading them directly to WordPress. This will provide a much better streaming experience for your students and save your server's bandwidth.
